The event was addressed by Barrister Karim, Taji Mustafa and Dr Abdul Wahid from Hizb ut-Tahrir.
Dr AbdulWahid likened the plight of the Rohingyas to the plight of the people Allah (swt) described in Sura Burooj in the Qur’an. He talked of their long history in Burma and the Bangladesh PM’s criminal closure of the border to Rohingya refugees. He praised the Islamic reaction of the Muslim ummah that has seen many Muslims making duas and donating generously to charities but warned that such actions alone are not enough without us also undertaking the action that Allah (swt) ordered of having a political authority, the Khilafah state, that unites and protects Muslims who are oppressed or occupied.
Taji Mustafa showed how the absence of the Khilafah means Muslims in Burma, Kashmir, Palestine and elsewhere continue to be oppressed and our lands occupied despite our huge resources and manpower. He questioned why nearly all scholars, imams and khateebs have refused to call for the Khilafah as the solution to the plight of the Rohingyas, restricting themselves to urging people to make duas and charity alone. He outlined the example of the Prophet (saw) who was unable to defend the Muslims in Makkah, but when he established the Islamic state in Madina was able to lead an army to defend an assaulted Muslim woman. He reminded the audience that having the Khilafah is a duty on Muslims because it is that which implements all of the Deen. He urged all Muslims to contact their friends and relatives in the Muslim lands to explain and motivate them to call for the Khilafah so it becomes a demand of the ummah everywhere, so that Allah’s shariah is implemented, and the ummah is united and able to defend the Rohingyas, Palestinians, Kashmiris and others.
Barrister Kareem gave a summary of both talks in Bangla.
Speakers highlighted Hizb ut-Tahrir’s work for the return of the Khilafah in Bangladesh and Pakistan and urged all Muslims who watch these atrocities to intensify the work for establishing the Khilafah that will liberate the Ummah from this mighty oppression. The event ended with a question and answer session and dua for the Rohingya Muslims and that Allah (swt) bring His Help and Victory soon.
